Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in bankruptcy and commercial litigation, Mr. Timko has earned distinction as an attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Irvine, California, and Orlando, Florida. Since 2003, he has focused his efforts on handling cases involving creditors’ rights and bankruptcy as well as commercial litigation. In particular, he is proud to have represented the receiver for the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Florida, Fortune 500 companies, creditors’ committees, bankruptcy trustees, receivers, assignees for benefits of creditors, real estate development companies, equipment lessors, and other parties-in-interest in insolvency proceedings.

Additionally, he lends his expertise to the fundraising board for the Children’s Home Society in Central Florida. He is also a past president and current member of the Florida chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and a board member for the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association. He also is a valued member of the American Bankruptcy Institute as well as the Florida Bar Association. Mr. Timko is also a licensed foster parent.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Timko was a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Leslie Tchaikovsky in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California in Oakland, California from 2001 to 2003. Thereafter, he served as an associate for Blank Rome, LLP in Philadelphia from 2003 through 2006. In 2006, he became a senior counsel for Allen Matkins in Irvine, California. He continued his career as a partner with Shutts and Bowen LLP in Orlando, Florida from 2010 to 2023. Among his professional accomplishments, he received an AV Preeminent Highest Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was named one of the Best Lawyers in America in litigation and bankruptcy in 2019 and 2020.

In preparation for his professional journey, Mr. Timko earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Rutgers University in 1998. While at Rutgers, Mr. Timko was a contributor to The Daily Targum, a member of the PRSSA and an honors student. After Rutgers, he attained a Juris Doctorate with honors from the Emory University School of Law. While at Emory, Mr. Timko was the executive article editor for the Bankruptcy Developments Journal and a director of the Homeless Advocacy Project.

Within the coming years, Mr. Timko intends to build the largest and most successful bankruptcy credit rights practice in central Florida. Accounting for his success thus far, he credits his willingness to take risks, his eagerness to learn new things and his ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
