Pune-based developer SuperGaming has announced the third community playtest for its upcoming Indo-Futuristic Battle Royale Indus. The in-person event is scheduled for February 25th at White Orange Software in Surat, Gujarat and is open to only 50 lucky attendees. The portal opens at 13:00, so it is recommended that you show up at least 30 minutes before. The news comes after Indus hit nearly a million pre-registrations on Android in less than a month since going live. As usual, selected participants can try the latest version of the game firsthand and provide valuable feedback, which will be evaluated for optimizations before launch.

“To celebrate the community’s love and support for Indus, we felt it was time to bring it to India’s fastest growing city, Surat,” said Roby John, Co-Founder and CEO, SuperGaming said in a prepared statement. “In our previous playtests, we received valuable feedback from players in Pune and Bengaluru that helped us develop a better game. Now it’s time to see what some of the country’s most hardcore battle royale players think.” The studio previously conducted a playtest comic con Bengaluru last year, albeit on a much larger scale with 250 players. Registration form for indus Community Playtest 03 is now live and you can sign up for it here. This time, the studio has teamed up with Scarfall 2.0 – another Indian-made battle royale title developed by Surat-based XSquads Tech. So this invite grants access to two separate playtests.

Since the second playtest, SuperGaming claims to have made several improvements to Indus ranging from new skins, weapons, map and mini-map improvements, customizable controls, and a slide feature. The latest version also introduces a “weapon testing facility” that allows you to test random firearms before heading to the Virlok island map. It’s currently unclear if this area will be accessible before a game while waiting for the servers to fill up. A previous report suggested that similar to other battle royale titles on the market, Indus will integrate bots/AI enemies if it fails to populate servers in time.

In Indus, step into the footsteps of a Mythwalker, a hired mercenary working for the COVEN, an intergalactic syndicate hoping to extract cosmium – a rare natural resource that has a tangible impact on time and space. Players can expect familiar Battle Royale rules where you are thrown onto an island with other players, looting for supplies, surviving and killing to be the last player standing. However, Indus integrates some of his lore aspects to keep players moving. At a certain interval, the game will spawn the Cosmium at a random spot on the map, which grants direct victory to the owner upon claiming it.

While the characters/operators in Indus feature unique art designs, they don’t necessarily have special abilities that set them apart – at least for now. The game will be playable in both first and third person modes at launch, with the latter switching to one FPS Perspective when aiming down. A skill-based matchmaking and ranking system are also planned, along with monetization systems focused solely on cosmetic items. Nothing is known about a Battle Pass yet.

Pre-registration for Indus is now live on the Google play store. Community Playtest 03 will take place on February 25th at White Orange Software’s premises in Surat, Gujarat.
