Ms. Eslick is a seasoned educator who specializes in special education. Throughout her long and successful career in the classroom, she has taught students with various learning and intellectual disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities, autism, and other disorders. Having initially joined Lake County Schools in Florida in 1985, shortly after graduating from college, she has spent over 35 years with the district.

Presently, at Mount Dora High School, Ms. Eslick teaches self-contained, intellectually disabled and autistic students language arts and social studies. Through the years, she has taught the subjects of reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, as well as learning strategies. She has also become recognized as an inclusion exceptional education teacher support facilitator, conducting mainstream classes mixed with regular education and learning-disabled and emotionally handicapped students.

Well-versed in formulating individualized education plans for her students, which serve as a written plan or program for children with disabilities who require special education, Ms. Eslick has also excelled in utilizing various educational tools and resources to move her students forward. Passionate about her work, she enjoys inspiring her students to keep learning despite facing multiple challenges.

Besides teaching, Ms. Eslick is writing her first book about her life, having successfully undergone brain surgery. She has also been active in her community through her church in Lake County since 2023 as a volunteer and member of its homeless ministry.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Eslick received a Bachelor of Science in education from Illinois State University in 1984. She also received numerous credentials in her field, including certification to teach elementary education (K-6), specific learning disabilities (K-12), and emotional handicap (K-12), and reading and ESOL endorsements. Ms. Eslick continues to seek guidance and support from her principal, members of the administration, and colleagues. She is also always eager to attend training programs to remain up-to-date with developments in the field.

In light of her success, Ms. Eslick received an Action Teacher Award.
