Supply chain leaders are already making plans to incorporate generative artificial intelligence into their key performance indicator reporting.

According to a new report from Gartner, Inc., roughly half of the 127 supply chain leaders they surveyed say they plan to implement GenAI for KPI reporting within the next year. Another 14% say they’re “already in the implementation stage.”

“The ability to gather and consolidate different data sources will remove obstacles that logistics leaders currently run into,” Gartner senior director analyst Carly West said. “Moreover, the ability to understand where challenges are occurring in real time will enable faster corrective action to improve logistics performance, in turn driving operational and financial results.”

Gartner goes on to note how GenAI allows logistics leaders to quickly track and analyze KPIs, as well as using that data to analyze supplier data to evaluate performance.

Ultimately, Gartner projects that GenAI will support an estimated 25% of logistics KPI reporting by 2028.
