Speed management provider E-SMART has revealed the results of its low bridge collision technology, with two carriers reporting a 100% reduction in bridge strikes along roads.
Those two carriers are Arnold Transportation Services and Navajo Express. The former previously reported a number of bridge strikes costing an estimated $6,000 each. The latter was experiencing an average of six bridge strikes a year. E-SMART estimates Navajo Express saved nearly $330,000 in the three years since it started using the low bridge collision tech.
“The results from carriers prove the effectiveness of using the E-SMART Dynamic Speed Management technology to solve an urgent problem,” E-SMART SVP Joe Thell said.
E-SMART’s technology pairs geo-fenced data on all North American bridges with GPS to find out when a tractor is on a road with a bridge under 13 feet and six inches. Once the vehicle gets within 750 feet of the bridge, the driver and fleet manager will each get a voice alert as the throttle limits to idle. The driver can then opt to coast to a stop or divert off the road.
