With a career spanning three decades, Ms. Palmer has established herself as an expert in clinical research. Since 2023, she has been the director of clinical operations at Pivotal Research Solutions (PRS) in Stonecrest, Georgia. Ms. Palmer manages a team of eight and collaborates with five physicians and four nurse practitioners. Her role encompasses overseeing study activities, handling budgets and contracts, engaging in business development, and networking with pharmaceutical companies.

Before accepting her current role at PRS, Ms. Palmer began working for Innovative Clinical Research in 2014, where she has been honing her expertise as a clinical research consultant. Previously, she held several other positions at PRS, dating back to 2016. She was also a clinical operations manager at Recursion in 2023. Her experience also includes being a TMF inspection readiness specialist at Sarepta Therapeutics Inc. between 2018 and 2019 and a lead clinical research associate at Ardelyx from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, Ms. Palmer found success as a clinical research consultant at MANA RBM and a project manager at Accelovance (now Linical Accelovance Group), both between 2016 and 2017. Her earlier roles include contract clinical research associate at Duke Clinical Research Institute, a clinical research associate and clinical team manager at PRA International, a clinical research nurse at Emory University Hospital, a trauma nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and as a travel nurse with Favorite Nurses Staffing PRN Agency, dating back to 1996. Apart from her clinical work, she worked in insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente.

Ms. Palmer’s professional journey has been shaped by her strong faith and belief in divine intervention. Her Jamaican roots also instilled a work ethic that views failure as not an option, while her passion for nursing was sparked by an early desire to make a difference in people’s lives. This drive led her to clinical research where she could impact healthcare on a broader scale. Looking toward the future of her career, Ms. Palmer envisions stepping back from the daily responsibilities of her director role to focus on mentoring and pursuing other passions. She also harbors aspirations to pursue further academic pursuits by obtaining a doctorate.

Dedicated to various causes, Ms. Palmer has been the co-chair of the Atlanta chapter of the New Seasons Youth Program since 2017. The nonprofit organization provides quality post-secondary education in the U.S. to deserving academically gifted youth and young adults from Africa and the Caribbean. In her role, Ms. Palmer facilitates scholarship opportunities for international students and supports high school students through book and supply donations. Through her collaborative efforts, she contributes to providing 13 scholarships. Since the program’s inception, she and the team have graduated over 80 students. In addition to her contributions to New Seasons, Ms. Palmer has been a board member and scholarship committee chair for the Morant Bay High School Alumni Association since 2019.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Palmer obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and a Master of Business Administration from Walden University in 2011. She also received a designation as a registered nurse. Ms. Palmer remains abreast of industry trends as a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates Inc. She is also a member of Site Owners Collaboration, comprising a network of minority research site owners who come together to support each other, share resources, and identify clinical research that can benefit the community.
