Prior to her current venture, Ms. Petito worked as an occupational therapist and wheelchair specialist at River Garden Hebrew Home from 1993 to 2004. Concurrently, from 1995 to 2001, she practiced at Brooks Rehabilitation and went on to join Apex Home Health Care (Almost Family), where she cared for patients for nearly 15 years. Alongside her work as an occupational therapist, she also pursued her first entrepreneurial venture.
In 1999, Ms. Petito leveraged her knowledge as an occupational therapist to establish Seating Solutions Inc., which focused on developing accessible and functional seating solutions for those with disabilities. In 2014, her entrepreneurial interest led her to evolve and rebrand her enterprise to become CHAS Group, which she owned for another five years, until 2019. Simultaneously, between 2015 and 2017, Ms. Petito specialized as a wheelchair seating and durable medical equipment specialist at HSC Pediatric Clinic and went on to serve as the director of clinical solutions at Paradigm from 2022 to 2023.
Alongside her aforementioned endeavors, Ms. Petito managed workers’ compensation programs and operations for National Seating and Mobility from 2019 to 2022 before her entrepreneurial spirit led her to once more establish her own consulting business, CHAS Consulting LLC. After two decades of community-based occupational therapy and evaluating homes for accessibility and appropriate equipment, she has developed a deep expertise in her field that encompasses knowledge regarding wheeled and seated mobility, home accessibility, and assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, Ms. Petito is adept in education and mentorship, teaching other therapists, professionals, and businesses to encourage professional development and education surrounding disabilities and accessibility.
Along with her work experience, Ms. Petito’s academic background has proved pivotal to her professional success. Recently, she earned a Master of Business Administration, with an emphasis in health care administration, from the Jack Welch Management Institute in 2020. Prior to that, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1995. Overall, the knowledge Ms. Petito gained through these programs, along with the various certifications she holds, has undoubtedly contributed to her ability to lead her business effectively and provide exceptional care to her clients.
Additionally, throughout her career, Ms. Petito has been fortunate to have mentors who have helped her achieve success. Alongside the mentorship she receives and offers to others, Ms. Petito’s adaptability and perseverance have played a significant role in her accomplishments. As an active occupational therapist and advocate, Ms. Petito holds membership with the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy, the American Occupational Therapy Association, the National Association of Home Builders, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society, and Living in Place Institute, among others.
Outside of her successful therapy practice and business, Ms. Petito enjoys engaging with the outdoors through activities like mountain biking, fishing, and adaptive sports.
