    LA JOLLA, CA, May 28, 2024, Robert Singer, MD, FACS, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. Dr. Singer, a distinguished plastic surgeon with an illustrious career spanning more than 45 years in La Jolla, has made significant contributions to the field of aesthetic and cosmetic surgery. Since beginning his tenure in 1976, he has dedicated himself to safely evaluating patients for surgery, discussing options, diligently performing surgeries and follow-ups, and ensuring his surgical facility complies with the highest standards. His expertise encompasses aesthetic surgery, cosmetic medicine, body contouring and facial rejuvenation, areas in which he has achieved a high level of expertise and recognition.

Dr. Singer’s professional journey is marked by his commitment to enhancing safety and standards in plastic surgery. Through his leadership positions, President and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Aesthetic Society (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery – ASAPS) and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, he has played a pivotal role in requiring that all plastic surgeons who are members of those organizations, operate only in accredited or licensed facilities. This initiative has significantly improved patient safety across the field. Additionally, he has served as chairman of plastic surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital and President of QUAD A the gold standard of accreditation of ambulatory surgical facilities. He started the Hot Topic Taskforce for the national plastic surgery organizations to evaluate and report on the safety and efficacy of new technology and procedures.

Prior to embarking on his distinguished career in plastic surgery, Dr. Singer earned his medical degree from the State University of New York – Buffalo. He subsequently pursued extensive training in general surgery at Stanford Medicine before serving as a physician in the United States Navy for two years, an experience that provided him with invaluable skills and discipline. Following his military duties including time spent as a physician in Viet Nam, he continued his general surgery training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital before completing his plastic surgery residency and serving as chief resident at Vanderbilt University.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Singer has been recognized with numerous awards, including being the recipient of the 2 most prestigious awards in aesthetic surgery: The Career Achievement Award as well as the Patient Safety Award from the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation and ASAPS. He was Chair of Plastic Surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital – LaJolla and named the best plastic surgeon in San Diego and La Jolla. He also contributes as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery (voluntary) at the University of California San Diego.

He credits his success to a lifelong commitment to learning and excellence, as well as the support of his family and giving back to the community and his specialty. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Singer actively contributes to various San Diego arts organizations and philanthropy projects, including the LaJolla Playhouse, the Mingei Museum, the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Council on Literacy, the San Diego Public Library, and the San Diego Humane Society. He was also involved with San Diego Zoo Global and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to save the mountain gorillas.

Looking ahead, Dr. Singer plans to remain dedicated to promoting health and safety within plastic surgery on a global scale. He is actively working with fellow plastic surgeons both nationally and internationally through the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) to advocate for mandatory accreditation of office and ambulatory surgical facilities worldwide—a testament to his ongoing commitment to raising safety standards in plastic surgery. He was chosen as the inaugural Visiting Professor from the California Society of Plastic Surgeons to all of the plastic surgery training programs in California and is sought-after worldwide as a lecturer of aesthetic surgery.
