In big news for horror game fans, Summer Game Fest 2024 has brought a wealth of new details pertaining to Slitterhead, an upcoming horror game from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama.
Developed by Toyama’s indie studio Bokeh Game Studio, Slitterhead already looks like it could be the perfect thing to scratch your horror itch. Its first gameplay trailer shows off some seriously horrifying mutated creatures and gives us an early look at the game’s combat. Overall, the combat seems to focus quite heavily on dodging and parrying incoming attacks, though there were also some brief shots showing ranged weapons in action, suggesting that there might be a few different combat styles available to the player.
There were also a few shots showing traversal through the game’s eye-catching city landscape, which features disheveled stores and high-rise buildings that seem to be most inspired by 1990s Hong Kong.
The game also appears to feature some kind of possession mechanic, as we can see a red-eyed character, potentially the game’s protagonist, taking control of various civilians to help fight nearby monsters throughout the trailer. You can see the trailer and judge things for yourself below.
In addition to the new gameplay footage, the video ends with our first confirmation of a release date: November 8, 2024. The trailer also states the game will come to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
