OVIEDO, Fla. – Edie and Ellie Wilkins are as close as can be. And it’s more than just being 6-foot twin sisters.

“We say we’re soulmates,” Edie told News 6. “We say we’ll never find anyone that’s the same.”

Ellie echoed that sentiment with her sister.

“It’s by far the biggest blessing,” Ellie said. “I thank God every day that I have a twin. It’s honestly the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

The recent Hagerty High School graduates dominated in lacrosse for the last four years, winning four straight district titles and two regional titles. That twin telepathy definitely made its way onto the field.

“This year, we got moved to where we can play together, and it’s been such a blessing having her, “Ellie said. “I know exactly where she is. She’ll be behind me because she plays backer so she’s playing behind me on defense, and I know that she’s going to be there.”

Edie noticed a difference on the field this year too.

“I would say we have a special connection,” Edie added, “and anyone watching can see that, that we’re always looking for each other on the field.”

And this fall, both Edie and Ellie are heading to Anderson University in South Carolina to continue playing lacrosse, together.

“We always had the thought of being together our whole lives,” Edie said. “When we finally got an offer together and we knew we were going to be able to be roommates, it was such a huge relief.”

Ellie couldn’t express enough how excited she was to go to college with her sister.

“I wouldn’t play lacrosse if I couldn’t play Edie,” Ellie said. “We push each other and our work ethic is the exact same. It’s so much fun to have competitor to play with.”
