During the early stages of her career, Dr. Truscott evaluated medical device safety and efficacy for MIDECO Laboratories (precursor of Nelson Laboratories), managed the Baxter Pharmaseal Divisional Biological Laboratories, and served as vice president of scientific affairs for Safe Skin and Safe Life Corporations. Due to her vast knowledge, Dr. Truscott has authored over 70 articles in prestigious publications such as Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology, Cutaneous and Ocular Toxicology, the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and Surgical Technology Online.

Dr. Truscott, an expert in her field, earned a bachelor’s degree from Bridgham Young University. She then earned a PhD in comparative pathology from the University of California Davis School of Medicine with emphasis in microbiology and immunology, followed by a Master’s degree in business administration. In addition to her professional and educational endeavors, Dr. Truscott is a committed community member, contributing to veterans’ organizations, the American Red Cross, and other charities close to her heart. Her dedication to these causes reflects her compassion and commitment to social issues.

These efforts were accomplished in collaboration with individuals from many companies, the U.S. ASTM test method development members, the FDA Science & Technology department, and the CDC. Additionally, she was honored to represent America’s interests in developing the European Union’s medical device Biocompatibility test methods development and requirements. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to fortunate timing, the opportunities she has received, the bosses and colleagues who have encouraged her, and, as she was a single Mom, the enduring support and efforts of her two sons.
