WEATHERFORD, OK, September 13, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Leslie Eugene Safley has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Hailing from over two decades of experience as a quality engineer, Mr. Safley has distinguished himself as a senior software quality engineer at the Bechtel Corporation, an American engineering, procurement, construction and project management company that handles nuclear waste management on behalf of the United States Department of Energy. In this capacity, through which he leverages a wealth of expertise in information systems and technology, his primary responsibilities encompass maintaining the procedures that all software developers and users must follow when using or developing software at the waste treatment facility. Drawing from abundant expertise in software quality program implementation, procedure development, and analytical techniques for problem-solving, Mr. Safley also serves as the principal trainer for new software developers.

First assuming his current role in 2017, Mr. Safley previously availed himself as a quality assurance lead at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant for Sandia National Laboratories, where he was tasked with ensuring compliance with various regulatory procedures and reviewing documentation generated from research. Notably, he also supported a NASA project on safety probability scenarios for a Mars rover. Prior to assuming this position in 2012, he worked as a regulatory document developer at the Savannah River Site for Portage Inc., and spent over 10 years as a senior scientist and quality compliance specialist at the Yucca Mountain Project, beginning in 1999.

Before embarking on his current service as a quality engineer, Mr. Safley served as a geologist for several years, during which time he developed his career at TRW Petroleum Technologies and for the ARCO Oil and Gas Company. Throughout this period, he gained an abundance of experience in exploration geology while working in Texas and New Mexico, wrote more than 55 articles and earned recognition for outstanding papers by several regional geologic conferences. Additionally, he earned distinction as an instructor of geology at the University of Phoenix.

Mr. Safley first became interested in geology during Boy Scout activities, where he earned the rank of Eagle, and due to the influence of his father, who encouraged him to collect rock samples for study. Studying at Oregon State University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1981 and a Master of Science in geology, hydrogeology and stratigraphy in 1989. Following his transition into the field of quality engineering, Mr. Safley later received an MBA in marketing and management information systems at Oklahoma State University in 1998. A former member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, he currently maintains his affiliation with the American Society for Quality as an ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE).

In accounting for his success, Mr. Safley credits the exceptional mentorship he has received over the years, as well as the incredible support of his family, his coworkers and the companies with which he has been affiliated. In a career suffused with highlights, he is most proud to have secured his current position at the Bechtel Corporation, which recognized his impeccable education and career background. Looking toward the future, Mr. Safley aspires to continue working at the company in order to reach various project milestones before pivoting toward part-time consulting or auditing as an independent contractor. Likewise, he hopes to dedicate more time to traveling the world alongside his wife, Barbara.
