Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd.
(ONE) has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, showing the world’s seventh-largest container line is making substantial strides in reducing its carbon footprint.

The 2024 Sustainability Report outlines four key areas: Environment, Social, Governance, and Operational Excellence.

In the environmental sector, the report highlights a 62% reduction in Scope 1 emissions intensity for FY2023 compared to a 2008 baseline. ONE has also gained Approval in Principle (AiP) for an ammonia dual-fueled vessel, and has made strategic investments in 12 13,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel vessels — both of which are intended to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

On the social front, ONE’s Academy initiative offers employees mentorship, career growth opportunities, and learning resources designed to cultivate a more dynamic and motivated workforce. It also reports that its workforce now consists of 51% women.

In terms of governance, ONE has introduced mandatory compliance e-learning programs for employees, and the establishment of sustainable supply chain management practices. The company also describes its efforts to enhance cybersecurity and data protection.

ONE says it is also seeking to optimize operational efficiency and enhance service quality through digitization. According to the report, 99% of customer bookings are now done via its digital platform.

“Achieving success and purpose goes beyond maximizing short-term returns for ONE,” said Jeremy Nixon, ONE’s chief executive officer in the report’s opening message. “As a responsible and forward-thinking organization, we seek to create sustainable long-term value for all stakeholders and to build resilience in the business and industry.”
