Elizabeth Cordova is and Alternate Dispute Resolution Specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs ADR Program and is responsible for providing triage, mediation, facilitations, assessments, training, coaching, case management, innovation, and organizational support for the VA enterprise. Throughout her career, her priority goal is to foster a culture of collaboration and has worked with and supported various Veteran Service Organizations, Native American Veterans organizations and Veteran Communities. She strengthened partnerships with the Native American community by including the Veterans’ Experience Officers, local Community Veterans Engagement Boards, Veterans Service Organizations, State Representatives, and the Veterans Health Administration, to promote awareness and improve communication. In addition, she engaged acquisition experts from the Department of the Veterans Affairs, current and retired professionals who had distinguished careers in building coalitions, and current staff to chart a way forward. As a person who strives in a high-pressure and fast-paced situation, she strives for positive results and has artfully balanced workplace objectives, produced relationships, inspired strategies, and insightful suggestions to achieve a competitive business edge. Her decision making and communication strengths has enabled her professional growth.
Elizabeth Cordova has achieved 35 years of service with the federal government and has contributed to the success of VA’s mission. Elizabeth comes from the VA Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center where she has served in various roles since 1987. In her last role as an Education Specialist, she was responsible for leading the operations and strategic direction for LEAD programs with programmatic responsibilities for employee development, and process improvement for VA clinicians as a continuing medical education coordinator. Throughout the years, Elizabeth has worked closely with executive leadership, designated learning officers, and many external/internal stake holders in building employee improvement which many employees are now widely successful from her leadership.
She is a national certified coach and mentor, and certified trainer to train various course offerings for VA employees. Since 1998 she has also been providing mediation under the Federal Executive Board (Shared Neutrals Program) for all federal facilities, and for EEOC as a (LAMP Neutral) facilitating settlement conferences.
She was honored by the Senate in 2013 and 2015 for Top 10 Woman of the State of California for making a Difference. She has worked with California State community organizations in making significant differences for various communities while leaving behind a trail of distinction so that others might follow in her footsteps.
Elizabeth Cordova is a 2005 graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program, 2013 graduate of VHA’s Health Care Leadership Development Program, 2023 VA Inspiring Leader Program (vASP), and is near completion of a bachelor’s degree in business management and inspires to reach her goal of completing VA’s Congressional Fellowship Program.
Elizabeth has two daughters and two grandchildren, Melinda, Nadia, Violet and Zayben. The most important thing to her is family, good health, and love. When not working, she loves to travel, mentor others, love on her grandchildren, surround herself in music, volunteer for Veteran communities, pray, fellowship with the Long Beach church and work on the completion of her book.
Elizabeth Cordova has and will always be passionate about creating opportunities for people to explore resolutions of immediate concerns and direct their futures in mutual decision-making process and to also lead people through challenge, change and professional development.
