GMS prides itself on its dedicated and long-standing employees, many of whom are like family.
SULLIVAN, MO, October 24, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Annetta S. Schwader, RN, MSN, ANP, CPB I, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Schwader is the chief executive officer and owner of Gateway Medical Solutions LLC, a position she has held since 2007. With over 30 years of experience in her profession, she has been instrumental in establishing Gateway Medical Solutions (GMS) as a leading independent medical billing firm that prioritizes integrity, compliance and ethics. The company offers full-service solutions, handling all aspects of revenue cycle management (RCM) for their clients. GMS prides itself on its dedicated and long-standing employees, many of whom are like family. The company’s pricing model allows for nationwide reach and competitive pricing compared to larger markets like New York.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Schwader served as an intelligence analyst in the United States Army. Her military background provided her with a unique perspective on discipline and strategic planning, which she has effectively applied to her business operations at GMS. Additionally, she has an extensive clinical background as a nurse practitioner with a focus on pain management, as well as an adjunct professor for BJC college of nursing and Forrest Park college of nursing. This experience has been invaluable in ensuring accurate coding and billing, thereby supporting providers through the complexities of insurance policies and procedures.
Ms. Schwader’s career is marked by numerous accomplishments, including her resilience during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure of ambulatory surgery centers, as well as many other clinic and hospital closures across the country, significantly impacted providers’ revenue, which in turn affected the company’s earnings tied to a percentage of collections. To alleviate financial strain, she spearheaded innovative solutions such as utilizing the evolutions of AI to streamline the medical billing process and introducing medical billing classes as an additional revenue stream. Her certification as an instructor enabled GMS to offer in-house training, benefiting both employees and students. Post Pandemic, the evolution of AI has created new needs and opportunities for revenue cycle management companies, and Ms. Schwader is proud that GMS is at the forefront of this technology and remains pertinent to the industry.
Ms. Schwader’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University and a master’s degree in nursing from the same institution. She holds certifications as an AAPC certified professional biller (CPB) from the American Academy of Professional Coders and is a certified billing instructor. These academic achievements have been pivotal in her ability to provide high-quality service and gain genuine appreciation from clients, contributing significantly to the growth of her business.
Motivated by her family’s deep roots in nursing, Ms. Schwader began her career journey at 16 by attending 4 Rivers Area Vocational Technical school and became a licensed practical nurse (LPN) before advancing to become a registered nurse (RN) and eventually obtaining her nurse practitioner license. Her father worked as a janitor at the local hospital while two of his sisters were nurses; one currently owns a nursing home. This familial influence inspired her to identify an opportunity to offer better billing services while working for a provider experiencing billing challenges, leading her to start her own business with her husband.
Ms. Schwader attributes her success to the initial challenges of starting the business while working full-time jobs. She believes that the quality of service provided and the genuine appreciation from clients have been instrumental in the company’s growth. Word of mouth has played a significant role in acquiring new clients, stemming from the positive experiences and satisfaction of existing clients.
Looking ahead, Ms. Schwader aims to expand her business to involve her three children, all of whom are currently employed by the company. Alongside her husband, she is committed to further developing GMS with the long-term objective of transitioning the business to their children, providing them with a sustainable legacy for their lifetime.
