Dr. Allen is a distinguished senior data scientist at PeopleTec, where he has been leading the AI development team since 2022. In this role, he is responsible for developing custom AI tools and AI architecture in the cloud, as well as contributing to education programs and training. His expertise in data science and engineering has been instrumental in advancing the company’s capabilities in artificial intelligence.

Prior to being promoted to his current position, Dr. Allen served as a senior research scientist at PeopleTec from 2021 to 2022. Before joining the company, he was a senior data scientist at Guidehouse from 2019 to 2020 and concurrently a senior system engineer at Bevilacqua Research Corporation. He also has experience in flight testing through his role as a senior flight test officer and team lead at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground from 2005 to 2019. During this period, he was the principal investigator for a project focused on developing innovative measurement techniques and technology to model and predict the behavior of wake vortices behind aircraft, resulting in a notable publication.

Dr. Allen began his career in the military as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army from 2001 to 2009. He completed multiple deployments and later returned to active duty for an additional year. His military background laid the foundation for his interest in statistics and data science, which he pursued through graduate studies.

Dr. Allen holds a Doctor of Philosophy in data science from Northcentral University, obtained in 2021, and a Master of Science in engineering management with a focus on modeling, simulation and statistical quality control from The University of Arizona in 2015. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Military Institute, completed in 2001.

Furthering his expertise, Dr. Allen is certified as a modeling and simulation professional by the National Training & Simulation Association and a project management professional by the Project Management Institute. He also holds DAWIA Level III Certification for Test and Evaluation and DAWIA Level I Certification for Program Management, both from Defense Acquisition University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Allen has been actively involved in various industry-related organizations. He has been a member of the American Statistical Association since 2021, The National Society of Leadership and Success since 2020 and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics since 2011. He was also part of the U.S. Army Acquisition Corps from 2011 to 2019.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Allen has made significant contributions through his extracurricular involvement. He has served as a mentor in a professional capacity since 2021 and lectured as a guest for various non-profits, educational institutions, social services and small businesses. From 2015 to 2018, he was the subcommittee chair of the Industry Advisory Board at The University of Arizona and concurrently provided career guidance for young engineers at Yuma Proving Ground from 2005 to 2019.

Dr. Allen attributes his success to the guidance of supportive mentors and the strong foundation provided by his parents. Balancing raising children, attending graduate school and working full-time was difficult, but he found success through perseverance and learning from these experiences.

In his personal life, Dr. Allen enjoys rock climbing as a hobby. His objective is to develop accurate tools that alleviate cognitive strain for users, enhancing decision-making processes across various professions. He also envisions transitioning leadership within his team to ensure continued success amidst rapid technological advancements.
