LAKE MARY, Fla. – Carson Friedman uses his hands in more than one sport.
The senior recently wrapped up his last season with the Lake Mary High School football team.
Friedman was one of the Lake Mary Rams most reliable receivers over the last two season. Last fall, he helped Lake Mary reach the Class 7A state championship.
Friedman’s hands as a receiver were weapons on the football field, and his hands are weapons in a type of karate.
Friedman is an apprentice black belt in Kenpo. The martial art was passed down from his dad, while football has been Friedman’s personal passion.
“It’s a really big part of me,” Friedman said about football. “I’ve played it basically my whole life. I feel like it’s a very rewarding feeling when you go out there and have a good game and it’s just something that I wouldn’t take for granted.”
Friedman has taken lessons he’s learned in Kenpo onto the football field and into his life.
“It’s discipline,” Friedman said. “Just going in there every week, couple days a week and just not stop grinding.”
