Dr. Haseltine, a world-class scientist and entrepreneur is a specialist in biomedical research, specifically cancer, virology, and genomics. Previously, he gained valuable professional expertise as the chairman and chief executive officer of Human Genome Science, and as a professor and researcher at Harvard’s Medical School of and  School of Public Health. He is currently the founder and Chairman of ACCESS Health International, a not-for-profit think tank and advisory organization.

Dr. Haseltine was inspired to enter the field of medical research due to his and his family’s health challenges. His mother suffered from several serious diseases, including detached retinas, septicemia, and bipolar disorder. Additionally, he suffered from pericarditis and was one of the first civilians saved by penicillin. Due to his vast knowledge and experience, he is the author of many books including “Science is a Superpower,” “Better Eyesight: What You and Modern Medicine Can Do To Improve Your Vision,” “CART: A New Cure for Cancer, Autoimmugne and Inherited Disease,” and “Ending Hepatitis C: A Seven-step Plan for a Successful Eradication Program” and two textbooks on Covid-19.

Dr. Haseltine earned a Bachelor of Arts in physical chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1966. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing a PhD in biophysics at Harvard University. Dr. Haseltine’s scientific mentors include four Nobel prize winners, Drs J.D. Watson, Walter Gilbert, David Baltimore, and Barouch Benacerref. His work and studies, he has contributed to world health globally and those less fortunate through founding and leading ACCESS Health International, a not-for-profit healthcare think tank, advisory group, and implementation partner.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Haseltine takes the most pride in recognizing the threat of HIV/AIDS as a disease and social issue and early recognition of the importance of genomics to modern science and medicine. He helped develop effective treatments for HIV/AIDS  and was a founding director of amfAR, an organization that supports HIV/AIDS research. He also founded and was the CEO of many technology companies, including Human Genome Science, which brought the first genomic science drug to market. Seven products he developed through these companies have been approved for use by the US FDA HIV/AIDS funding. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his innate curiosity and early life exposure to science and the humanities by his parents.
