Realme Pad X launched in India earlier this year as the company’s first tablet with 5G connectivity. It has an 11-inch display and features a quad-speaker setup. The tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 695 SoC and packs an 8,340 mAh battery. You also get support for accessories like the Realme Smart Keyboard and the Realme Pencil. The tablet is available in Wi-Fi and cellular configurations, and the latter competes with the Xiaomi Pad 5, which has a more powerful processor and a Dolby Vision-certified display.
On this week’s episode of the Gadgets 360 podcast orbitalinnkeeper Siddharth Suvarna talks to reviewer Pranav hedge and senior reviewers Sheldon Pinto to understand what the Realme Pad X has to offer.
Since Apple has no competition in the affordable tablet segment, Android tablet makers like Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, and Motorola offer multiple options at different price points. If you are in the market for a tablet with an 11-inch display, you can choose the Realme Pad X, which starts at Rs. 19,999 or the Xiaomi pad 5, which is currently priced at Rs. 26,999, or you can even buy them iPad Pro (2022) Model priced at Rs. 44,900.
Unlike the Xiaomi Pad 5, which is powered by a Snapdragon 870 SoC, the Realme Pad X comes with the Snapdragon 695 SoC under the hood. The former offers better performance, but both tablets pale in comparison to the iPad Air (2022), which of course also costs significantly more.
The Realme Pad X features a plastic frame and back panel and comes in two color options: Glacier Blue and Glowing Gray. Pranav says that the back is well designed and you will definitely turn some heads when using this tablet in public.

The tablet also comes with stylus support, with the company’s Realme Pencil which Pranav and Sheldon say is a bit overpriced at Rs. 5,500. It’s also not very reliable, sometimes stopping working abruptly while you’re using it, says Pranav. Samsung charges a lot more for its stylus, but it works a lot better than the Realme Pencil, he adds. The keyboard accessories, on the other hand, offer excellent key travel.
The Realme Pad X offers a 10.95-inch display with a WUXGA+ resolution (1,200 x 2,000 pixels). It’s an LCD display and unlike the Xiaomi Pad 5, it’s not Dolby Vision certified. However, Pranav says the display is good for the price you pay. There’s no HDR support and a 60Hz refresh rate, but you do get Widevine L1 support for Netflix HD content, which Sheldon points out is more than enough.
Can you play games on Realme Pad X? Playing Call of Duty and Asphalt, Pranav said playing the latter is much easier since all you have to do is tilt the fairly large tablet. You’re holding a tablet that weighs about 0.5 kg, Sheldon points out. It might be worth considering a game controller if you plan to play games on this tablet, says Pranav.

The battery life of the Realme Pad X is pretty impressive according to Pranav. Realme says you have 19 hours, but we got around 17 hours in our test. This is far better than the non-cellular variant of the iPad, which is said to offer 10 hours of playback.
The cameras on the Realme Pad X might disappoint you, says Pranav. The company got the front camera placement right, but the alignment leaves a lot to be desired. Very soft images, with a lot of noise, he says. Realme has a feature called Limelight that focuses on the person in the video and keeps them in the center of the frame, but the feature only works with Google Meet and Zoom. There’s a bit of latency and lag, but it works, he says.
