Ray Pfeister Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who

After earning a Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1969, Mr. Pfeister began his professional career as a sales analyst with Koppers Co. Subsequently, while pursuing an MBA in finance at his alma mater, he gained valuable expertise as a business instructor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and as a special agent with Prudential Financial, Inc. In the ensuing years, Mr. Pfeister gained valuable expertise with Prudential as a division manager and marketing specialist.

Backed by his considerable expertise, Mr. Pfeister transferred his skill set to Alexander and Alexander Services, Inc., through which he served as an account executive, assistant vice president, and vice president. Over the years, he honed his financial management expertise in executive roles with Johnson and Higgins, Chattan Group, Ceramic Design Ltd., and Sheffield Associates. Likewise, he completed a PhD from the City University of New York. In 2010, he retired from his role as vice chairman of Fred Alger Management, a $25 billion privately-owned investment management and mutual fund firm. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Pfeister has also written and co-written such works as “The Practice of Planning: Strategic, Administrative, and Operational” and “The Strategic Planning Process.”

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Pfeister aligned himself with the American Psychological Association, the Society of American Foresters, the Forest Products Research Society, the National Association of Life Underwriters, the National Black MBA Association, and Pfeister Capital Management. In conjunction with his work, Mr. Pfeister also contributed to his community through the Boy Scouts of America, through which he founded his own troop, and Junior Achievement.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Pfeister takes the most pride in successfully managing and growing the assets of the financial services companies for which he has worked. Looking ahead, he intends to enjoy his retirement.
