Hades is getting an enchanting sequel, developer Supergiant Games announced at The Game Awards 2022. With a high-octane trailer introducing the princess of the underworld, this would be the first-ever sequel from the award-winning developer of jewels like Bastion and Pyre. Hades 2 is now wishlistable on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and will be coming to PC in Early Access – similar to the first installment, as the developers collect live feedback to improve the mechanics. Both from an artistic and a playful point of view hades 2 Looks similar to its predecessor and offers a tight, roguelike dungeon-crawling experience built on Greek mythology, with an incredible cast of characters/gods and lore unlocked through repeated playthroughs. While Supergiant Games Trailer for Hades II does not explicitly mention the protagonist’s name, a blog entry confirms this Melinoë, the daughter of Persephone, queen of the underworld. According to legend, Zeus, the god of thunder, prevailed, resulting in the birth of a successor. While Hades Focused on a back and forth between father and son – Zagreus and Hades – the sequel seems to take the divine conflict to a higher level and pave the way for a fight against Chronos, the personification of time.
Armed with legendary weapons harboring ancient magic, players must defeat the forces of the Titan of Time in an epic story that unfolds in unpredictable ways, regardless of victory or defeat – all while interacting with its legendary cast. The trailer for Hades 2 this time promises new locations following an art style in the style of ancient witchcraft – on a moonlit night decorated with dead vegetation. Ranged and AOE (area of effect) attacks seem to take center stage this time, staying consistent with a Sorceress’ powers. You can see pentagrams that appear during certain spell casts and interactions with various gods in the realm that grant boons to aid you in your quest to defeat Chronos. The Hades II trailer also offers a glimpse of some of the gods you would encounter, from the embodiment of Moros’ downfall, the light god Apollo, the embodied Nemesis Retribution, and an interactive shadow.
“He’s not just a titan. He is time itself. And time cannot be stopped,” a narrator describes Chronos in the Hades 2 trailer, hoping to intimidate the underworld princess. Thankfully, permanent upgrades return that make subsequent runs a much easier ordeal, alongside “God Mode” that makes you nearly invincible as you unveil the mysteries of the Arcana Altar, tame witches, and unlock divine weapons to add to your goal to get closer.
