With 25 years of experience, he has honed his expertise in underwriting, with a primary focus on broker-dealer business, registered investment advisors business and miscellaneous professional liability. Mr. Fleming is the product lead for financial services, manages a mortgage banker program, and underwrites miscellaneous professional liability. He previously succeeded as the firm’s assistant vice president between 2016 and 2024. Mr. Fleming’s dedication to developing and maintaining superb relationships with trading partners, building trust, delivering exceptional service, executing disciplined underwriting and maintaining integrity has been a cornerstone of his career.
Outside of his duties as vice president and underwriter, in 2022 and 2023 Mr. Fleming served as a Co-Chair of Aspen’s Race & Ethnicity DE&I ERG (Employee Resource Group).
In addition to his aforementioned roles at Aspen Insurance Group, which includes as a senior underwriter from 2012 to 2016, Mr. Fleming began his underwriting career as a senior underwriter at Allied World Assurance Company, where he worked from 2010 to 2012. This laid the groundwork for his underwriting career and fostered his development to a more senior role.
Mr. Fleming’s career began at The Hartford, where he worked from 2000 to 2010 in various claims roles, including four plus years as a team leader in the commercial auto claims department. During this time, he gained valuable experience in leadership, time management and customer service, while honing this negotiation and communication skills, all of which have been instrumental in his professional growth.
Mr. Fleming holds an impressive array of degrees that have significantly contributed to his success. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2000 and a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Business Administration from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut, in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Moreover, Mr. Fleming holds certifications as a registered professional liability underwriter (RPLU) and RPLU+ from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, where he is also an active member.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Fleming is actively involved in civic organizations. He has participated in and raised money for Relay For Life events organized by the American Cancer Society and St. Baldrick’s Foundation, who raises funds for childhood cancer research. Additionally, he has coached various youth sports teams, was as a board member for a youth sports organization, served as president of a youth softball league and continues to support local high school sports programs, reflecting his commitment to community engagement.
Looking ahead, Mr. Fleming aims to foster new broker relationship, maintain and strengthen existing partnerships and further expand his book of business in financial services and miscellaneous professional liability while remaining an integral part of the professional liability team at Aspen Insurance Group.
