In this role, Dr. Brant was instrumental in advancing the company’s research and development efforts, particularly in polyolefins. His tenure at ExxonMobil Chemical notably began earlier, as he held the position of chief scientist from 2000 to 2011.

Dr. Brant’s expertise in polyolefin chemistry and pioneering work in polymer science is widely recognized, a testament to his deep understanding and innovative contributions to the field. He has been awarded an impressive 175 U.S. patents throughout his professional journey. These patents underscore his prolific inventiveness and have significantly advanced the knowledge and application of polyolefin materials. Among Dr. Brant’s most notable achievements is the commercialization of metallocenes, a new type of polyethylene that offers superior properties over traditional Ziegler Natalie polyethylenes. This innovation has enhanced product performance across various applications, benefiting customers with improved product presentation and efficiency.

In preparation for his career in the sciences, Dr. Brant began his academic journey with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from George Mason University in 1972, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Purdue University in 1977. His postdoctoral work at Purdue University and a National Research Council Fellowship at The Naval Research Laboratory gave him valuable experience that propelled his career forward.

Dr. Brant is an active member of several industry-related organizations. He is active in the Society of Plastics Engineers, contributing to the advancement of plastics engineering through collaboration and knowledge sharing. He is also affiliated with the American Physical Society, demonstrating his commitment to the scientific community. Additionally, Dr. Brant’s longest-standing affiliation is with the American Chemical Society, reflecting his dedication to staying at the forefront of scientific research and development.
