A seasoned attorney specializing in traditional labor law, Ms. Lancia has excelled as Of Counsel with Jackson Lewis P.C., through which she provides counsel to clients on all aspects of traditional labor law, including NLRB proceedings, collective bargaining, and negotiations. In this capacity, she guides clients regarding their responsibilities under the National Labor Relations Act, advises on collective bargaining and union recognition, and assists with labor arbitration matters. Before working at Jackson Lewis, she handled a diverse workload of OSHA, FLSA, and ERISA cases as a U.S. Department of Labor trial attorney in the New York Solicitor’s Office. As a result of her FLSA work, including successfully obtaining an injunction against an employer for child labor violations, Ms. Lancia received a Public Service Recognition Award for Enforcement and Litigation as part of the NYSOL Wage and Hour TRO Team. Prior to her position at the U.S. DOL, Ms. Lancia dedicated over 10 years to the National Labor Relations Board, serving as an attorney in the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch, the Manhattan regional office, and the Contempt, Compliance, and Special Litigation Branch. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in her tenure with the National Labor Relations Board, where she played a crucial role in the McDonald’s USA, A Joint Employer litigation. Ms. Lancia and her team examined and cross-examined over 50 witnesses, focusing on whether several franchisees across the country adhered to consistent operational patterns that connected them as joint employers with McDonald’s USA. Through her team’s arduous work on that case, they each earned a Certificate for Conspicuous Achievement in Litigation Preparation and Execution. While in the regional office, she also received two Certificates of Commendation for Bilingual Skills for her regular use of Spanish in taking affidavits and preparing witnesses for trial.

During her time with the NLRB, Ms. Lancia accepted a detail as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC, where she prosecuted numerous domestic violence misdemeanors. Outside of her government employment, Ms. Lancia also oversaw a pro bono landlord-tenant matter through the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program.

An expert in her field, Ms. Lancia earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy with minors in Spanish and African American Studies from Georgetown University. While at Georgetown, she also was inducted into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a historically Black sorority founded in 1913. Three years after graduating from Georgetown, she received a Juris Doctor degree from her alma mater, which accepted her through an early admissions program, without needing to take the LSAT exam. During law school, Ms. Lancia gained valuable experience in internships with the AFL-CIO, American Federation of Government Employees, and the New York County District Attorney’s Office.

Driven to stay abreast of current sociopolitical issues, Ms. Lancia is the Chair of Phi Beta Kappa New York Chapter’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and coordinates programs for African-American, Hispanic, and AAPI heritage months as well as discussions on neurodiversity, and federal hate crimes. She also routinely presents Continuing Legal Education programs with the Public Law Institute, New York State Bar Association, and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.

Ms. Lancia’s professional achievements are complemented by her dedication to serving those in need. Before 2020, she actively volunteered abroad with Habitat for Humanity International, Hand in Hand Ministries, Learning Enterprises, and the Ghana Health and Education Initiative, striving to improve the lives of others and inspiring others to make a difference in their communities. Additiionally, Ms. Lancia annually contributes to the United Negro College Fund and Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Though Ms. Lancia’ hard work, determination, and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her mother’s teachings, focus on education, and desire to provide her daughter with as many opportunities as possible and opportunities that she never had. In the coming years, Ms. Lancia hopes to secure a political appointment to the National Labor Relations Board or the Department of Labor.
