Earlier in her professional journey, Ms. Yang worked as a Network Technician at Intrado from 2011 and 2014, during which time she honed her technical skills. In 2010, she was an Administrative Assistant II for the Colorado Department of Revenue, contributing to efficient departmental operations. She began her career with internships and assistant roles at the Social Security Administration and the University of Colorado Denver from 2007 to 2009, following her time as a Programming Assistant at the Community College of Denver from 2006 until 2007.
Ms. Yang’s academic background provided a strong foundation for understanding complex social issues and developing effective strategies to address them. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado Denver in 2009, followed by a master’s degree in criminology from Regis University, obtained in 2013. She has also been certified as a Financial Education Instructor by the National Financial Educators Council since 2019 and holds an insurance producer license in life, accident and health from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Outside her professional endeavors, Ms. Yang’s dedication to community service is evident through her involvement with civic-minded organizations, including the Hmong American Association of Colorado since 2003, Asian Pacific Development Center from 2004 to 2009, the Hmong Student Association of Colorado from 2007 to 2009, the People’s Advisory Board for New Educational and Economic Goodwill in 2023, The Reentry Initiative since 2019, and the I Have a Dream Foundation in 2023.
She has been recognized for her leadership and service with accolades such as the Leadership and Service Award from Hmong National Development in 2008 and the President Service Award from Community College of Denver in 2007.
