Dr. Schwob, a distinguished professional engineer and expert in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system noise control, has significantly contributed to engineering acoustics. He founded Schwob Acoustics in 2017, an independent consulting firm. As president, he has successfully provided clients with specialized acoustical engineering services. Since 2023, he has served as the vice president of engineering at Dynamic Sound Control Inc., overseeing the engineering design, analysis, and testing of products. His ultimate role in both organizations involves creating optimal acoustic environments that enhance occupants’ comfort, health, and productivity. Dr. Schwob’s career is marked by his dedication to innovation in noise control solutions.

Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Schwob was a mechanical engineering instructor at his alma mater, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), from 2015 to 2017. He also served as an acoustic technical advisor at JBA Consulting Engineers during the same period. His tenure at JBA began in 1997, where he held various senior level roles, including director of acoustical engineering and director of technology services. Dr. Schwob’s work took him to diverse locations, such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Macau, enriching his experience and fueling his passion for travel.

Dr. Schwob’s academic journey laid a solid foundation for his career achievements. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in mathematics from UNLV in 1992. Subsequently, he received a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 and 2022, respectively. During his doctoral work, Dr. Schwob researched the sound insertion loss of fiberglass-lined ducts. Additionally, he is recognized as a professional engineer in the states of Nevada, California, Washington, and Oregon.

Dr. Schwob is actively involved in industry-related organizations, such as the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Sheet Metal, Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), and American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, (ASHRAE) where he served as vice chair and secretary for Technical Committee 2.6 on Sound & Vibration.

Beyond professional circles, Dr. Schwob has been active in his community by serving on the advisory board for the mechanical engineering department at UNLV. Additionally, his scholarly work includes co-authoring papers published in ASHRAE Transactions. In light of his hard work, Dr. Schwob has been recognized with awards like the ASHRAE Best Paper Award in 2019 and the ENR Best Project Award in 2023.
