GOLD RIVER, CA, January 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Amita Khare, LMFT, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Khare is a distinguished expert in psychotherapy and counseling with a career spanning more than two decades. As the founder and chief executive officer of Zenith Counseling, she has dedicated herself to providing individual psychotherapy through her private practice. Specializing in culturally sensitive trauma-focused therapy, she primarily serves women, children and families.

Ms. Khare’s approach emphasizes psycho-education, empowering clients with knowledge about the impact of trauma to foster greater awareness and resilience. She integrates play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and family involvement when working with children to create a supportive healing environment. For adults, she facilitates recognition and acceptance of trauma, even when it is not consciously acknowledged. Ms. Khare facilitates healing from trauma by using evidence based modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Structural Dissociation model so her clients can live their authentic life.

At the beginning of her professional journey in the United States, Ms. Khare served as a child aide for the early mental health program at Folsom Cordova Unified School District in Sacramento from 2000 to 2012 where she earned the Employee of the Year award in 2012. This role ignited her passion for mental health as she supported at-risk children through play therapy and group sessions focusing on anger management and violence prevention strategies. Her experiences inspired her to pursue formal education in therapy, leading her to earn a master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from California State University, Sacramento, graduating summa cum laude in 2015.

Following her academic studies, Ms. Khare gained valuable experience as a marriage and family therapist trainee at Folsom Cordova Unified School District and as an intern at Terra Nova Counseling and Uplift Family Services in Sacramento from 2015 to 2018 before establishing Zenith Counseling the following year.

Throughout her career, Ms. Khare has also been actively involved with the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (SVC-CAMFT). She served as a volunteer with the organization from 2012 to 2022 and as president during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership efforts have been recognized with the Outstanding Chapter Leader Award from the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Khare is deeply committed to women’s empowerment. She hosts annual women empowerment event called Shakti and facilitates empowerment groups and meetups. Her dedication to community service is further exemplified by her role as a founding member of a local organization in Sacramento and as a coordinator for the Marathi Language School. Driven by personal experiences and a deep-seated belief in women’s empowerment, she remains committed to promoting her cause while also striving to make mental health care accessible and affordable.

Ms. Khare’s personal life is enriched by her love for hiking, gardening, walking along lakes, writing poetry and stories and participating in theater both as a director and actor. Born in Maharashtra, India, she also loves spending time with her family back home and here in the US, including her husband, two adult children and a daughter-in-law.

Before immigrating to the U.S., Ms. Khare earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration while in India. Even though her early studies focused on business, she maintained a deep interest in social service and social work. Later, this interest led her to obtain a diploma in deaf education in 1989, after which she taught at a school for deaf children in Pune, India, for one year. She eventually came to the U.S. with her husband as a result of his career.

Looking ahead, Ms. Khare plans to deepen her expertise by pursuing additional certifications in various therapeutic models. She is dedicated to developing innovative services that address the evolving needs of her community, including launching premarital counseling specifically designed for interracial couples. Concerned about the rising cost of therapy, she strives to keep her rates reasonable and offers a sliding scale for clients facing financial constraints. In crisis situations such as the COVID pandemic and LA wildfires, Ms. Khare offered Pro Bono therapy and mindfulness sessions which underscores her deep commitment to social service.

Through these efforts, Ms. Khare aims to provide quality mental health care to a wider audience while continuing her work in women’s empowerment.
