She is most proud of her perseverance in solving technical problems related to producing cotton organically in the Southwest. Her work on the first organic cotton testing standard, which was later revised for global use, stands as a testament to her commitment to sustainable agriculture. Among her notable accomplishments are several patents for plant variety protection, including “Buffalo” in 1996, naturally flame-resistant cotton fiber in 1994, “Palo Verde” green in 1992, and both “Coyote” and “Green” in 1990.

Ms. Fox attributes her remarkable success to her mastery of hand spinning, hand knitting, and hand weaving. These skills have been crucial in producing high-quality products made from organic cotton. For the past 25 years, she has worked quietly and relatively unknown outside of a small circle of artisans. However, recent interest in her work from the 1980s has surged, leading to features in Vogue magazine and increased visibility on social media platforms like TikTok.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Fox has been involved with civic-minded organizations such as Peace Corps Volunteers and the Peace Corps from 1979 to 1980. Her commitment to community service reflects her broader dedication to making a positive impact on society.
