31st January 2025 Case Studies: Age UK Westminster provided two case studies of low income pensioners whose lives will be significantly easier with access to a personal laptop, as they will be able to communicate with their families and independently manage daily tasks like accessing news, grocery shopping and health appointments.

I was lost without one and was unable to Skype with my family abroad.’

Another client had her personal computer stopped working and with her limited income she was prevented from purchasing a new one and, having to go to the library to use their computers.

‘Thank you for the laptop. Greatly appreciated. Now I can send emails and print my letters from home.’

Unfortunately, many elderly people face increasing isolation due to a lack of affordable technology and training solutions.
