LA JOLLA, CA, February 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Robert Singer, MD, plastic surgeon with Prime Plastic Surgery, La Jolla, was selected by Marquis Who’s Who for a prominent feature in the Southern California Edition of The Wall Street Journal, published on January 23, 2025.

Dr. Singer, the chief medical officer of Prime Plastic Surgery, has performed plastic surgery in La Jolla, California, since 1976. As one of the most experienced plastic surgeons, he is the senior operating aesthetic surgeon and is also responsible for overseeing the surgery facilities, evaluating patients and conducting follow-up appointments after procedures. Dr. Singer has established himself as a leader in the field of aesthetic surgery, specializing in cosmetic surgery, body contouring and facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Singer received a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo and went on to pursue a residency in general surgery at Stanford University. Halfway through the program, he was drafted and served two years in the United States Navy, including time in Vietnam. After completing his military service with an honorable discharge, he went to Santa Barbara, California, to finish his general surgery residency. He then went on to pursue a plastic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, where he was named plastic surgery chief resident, before starting his own private practice in La Jolla.

As a surgeon, Dr. Singer has made significant strides in improving safety in plastic surgery. One of his most notable achievements was convincing the Aesthetic Society (the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons boards to require all plastic surgeon members to operate only in accredited or licensed surgical facilities. This significantly enhanced patient safety. Dr. Singer created the emerging trends Hot Topics task force for plastic surgery, which focuses on new procedures, technology, safety and efficacy, ensuring the field remains on the cutting edge of technology while adhering to meticulous safety procedures.

Dr. Singer was president of the Aesthetic Society, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Aesthetic Foundation (Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation), and QUAD A, the gold standard for accreditation of ambulatory surgical facilities.

In addition to his career contributions, Dr. Singer and his late wife, Judith Harris, were actively involved in their community and internationally, supporting various arts, literacy, animal welfare and philanthropic organizations. These include the San Diego Symphony, the La Jolla Playhouse, the San Diego Global Zoo, and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, for which his wife was chair of the board. She also led the library foundation that raised $195 million to build the downtown San Diego public library.

Dr. Singer attributes his success to his commitment to continued learning. He is grateful for the support he has received from his family and strives to make them proud. He remains actively involved in leading plastic surgical organizations to promote education, ensuring that he leaves a legacy for the young surgeons and medical professionals he mentors.

Moving forward, Dr. Singer plans to continue making a positive impact. Currently, he is working with a group of plastic surgeons to promote accreditation for office and ambulatory surgical facilities internationally and chairs the task force to develop guidelines for accreditation of med spas. Requiring accreditation would raise the safety standards in many countries that currently lack regulations for these facilities. Dr. Singer is the most honored aesthetic plastic surgeon by his peers in Southern California and was presented with the two most significant awards in aesthetic surgery by the Aesthetic Foundation: the Career Achievement Award and the Patient Safety Award. He was also named Best Plastic Surgeon in San Diego and La Jolla.

Dr. Singer’s philosophy is to give back to the community, leave organizations better than when he joined them, and be truthful with patients and treat them like he would want a member of his family treated.
