ORLANDO, Fla. – Some of your favorite radio hit songs could be the key to saving a life in a moment.

Hands only cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or better known as CPR, is used in situations when an individual around you suddenly collapses and is unable to respond, according to the American Heart Association.

Hands-only CPR is used on adults or teens and if the bystander is unable, unwilling or untrained on how to perform rescue breaths, mouth to mouth, according to the American Red Cross.

The best songs to use for CPR are ones that have a beat per minute of 100 to 120.

Classics that are known for being best for CPR include “Stayin’ Alive” by Bee Gees and “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. Yet, for the newer generation, they have a new selection of hit songs to choose from.

Some hit songs that fall into the BPM range are:

    • “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan

    • “Please, Please, Please” by Sabrina Carpenter

    • “Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyoncé

    • “Not Like Us,” “Squabble up,” and “tv off” by Kendrick Lamar

    • “EL CLúB” by Bad Bunny

These songs can serve as a mental beat that helps to maintain the correct and consistent pace during CPR. It’s essential to push hard and fast on the center of the chest to the beat of the music.

While music can assist in maintaining rhythm, proper CPR training is crucial for effective lifesaving techniques. Always call 911 if someone collapses and is unresponsive.
