Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Mims was a Division 1 men’s basketball player at Western Illinois University from 2007 to 2011, an experience that influenced his expertise in sports law.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Mims has made significant contributions to academia and civic organizations. Notably, he was the first African American editor-in-chief of the Journal of Environmental and Sustainability Law during his time at the University of Missouri School of Law from 2013 to 2014. He has also contributed articles to professional journals, sharing his knowledge and insights with the broader legal community.

Born in Carbondale, Illinois, and raised in Peoria, Illinois, Mr. Mims holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, earned in 2014, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Western Illinois University, completed in 2011. He attributes his achievements to hard work, dedication, and prayer, values that have guided him throughout his journey.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Mims is deeply committed to giving back to the community. As a member of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s foundation board, he helped raise over $670,000 for the hospital to improve healthcare services for children. Passionate about mentoring youth, he volunteers extensively in area high schools and middle schools, aiming to inspire and guide future generations.
