Dr. Amoozgar’s current role involves rotations in the bone marrow transplant clinic and researching cellular therapeutics.
Dr. Amoozgar initiated his medical career as an observer-researcher and ophthalmic technician at the University of Toronto in 2013 until 2015. He concurrently served as an education observer at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre before cooperating in the Hospital Elderly Life Program at the University Health Network in 2014.
In 2016, he accepted an externship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by hands-on practice and a sub-internship at Medical City Plano Hospital in 2017. Between 2015 and 2018, Dr. Amoozgar also held multiple roles at the University of California, San Francisco, including postdoctoral research fellow, assistant specialist, clinical research coordinator, and clinical observer. He was involved in both clinical and basic science research.
Exceptional academic credentials further define Dr. Amoozgar’s presence in his specialized field. He proudly earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2012 and holds a Master of Public Health in medicine from the University of California, Berkeley, which he finished in 2021, the same year he completed a residency at JFK University Medical Center. During his residency, he received the PGY2 faculty award while serving as a frontline healthcare provider during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Amoozgar has made significant contributions to academia through his numerous publications and presentations. He has authored 29 peer-reviewed publications, delivered five oral presentations, and presented 15 posters. Dr. Amoozgar’s scholarly expertise has been recognized with invitations to review content for esteemed journals such as the Journal of Medicine, British Medical Journal (BMJ), and PLOS ONE.
Dr. Amoozgar attributes his success to hard work and perseverance, and he is always generous with his time when interacting with patients. He is humbled to have secured a green card based on his broad talents as a researcher, and Dr. Amoozgar proudly accepted the ACP Award for clinical research from the American College of Physicians, a prestigious accolade that was awarded to only two individuals in the United States in 2020.

Notably, he has launched a YouTube channel called Cancer Therapeutics, through which he creates videos for cancer patients and physicians. Additionally, he maintains an Instagram page to share short videos on cancer topics for patients, fellows and other physicians. Dr. Amoozgar’s persistent focus on active networking and knowledge sharing is further exemplified by his sustained memberships in the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Amoozgar prioritizes civic activities and volunteer work. To this end, he served as a volunteer research assistant and ophthalmic technician at the University Health Network from 2013 to 2015 while volunteering in various capacities at Toronto Western Hospital at University of Toronto. To achieve balance, he enjoys playing drums, exercising and flying drones in his personal time.
