Powermoon Productions film “Silent Half” brings on Yukiko Cho as Director of Photography

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 06, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Powermoons Production Inc is thrilled to announce that acclaimed Director of Photography Yukiko Cho has joined the team for the upcoming short film “Silent Half,” directed by the multi-award-winning Sara Eustáquio. Pre-production is set to begin on January 1, 2027.

Yukiko Cho brings a wealth of experience and an impressive array of accolades to the project. Her work has been recognized at numerous prestigious film festivals, including the Image Forum Festival in Japan, the Diversity in Cannes Short Film & Webseries Showcase, and the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF). Cho’s recent short film “KANOJO” (2023) received six nominations at TINFF 2024, while her sci-fi drama “One Sun” (2023) earned her the Best Sci-Fi Director award at the Los Angeles Movie & Music Video Awards.

“Silent Half” is set in a world where a virus has turned half of humanity into non-threatening zombies. The story follows a group of survivors navigating this new reality, exploring themes of coexistence and human resilience. Cho’s visual storytelling expertise is expected to bring a unique perspective to this compelling narrative.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of talent both behind and in front of the camera. Director Sara Eustáquio brings her own impressive credentials, having received over 170 awards in film festivals and recognition from both the Torres Vedras City Council and the City of Los Angeles. The cast includes Lee Chen, known for her roles in HBO’s VEEP and Freeform’s GOOD TROUBLE, and Yaoyao Qi, a rising talent with a background in theatre and cinematic arts.

“Silent Half” is being produced by Rachel Ma, an Executive Producer with multiple awards and nominations from prestigious festivals such as the Academy Award, BAFTA, and Canadian Screen Award qualifying Toronto International Film Festival.

Pre-production for “Silent Half” is set to begin on January 1, 2027, with Cho working closely with the director and crew to finalize locations and plan each shot meticulously. Principal photography is scheduled for July 19-23, 2027.
