The show was formerly known as American Barbecue Showdown is primarily a meat-themed cooking competition. That means you can expect plenty of crickets and burnt cookies, but also slightly incompetent contestants and some staged suspense. But Barbecue showdown is also very funny – reviews of the second season say that the new host Michelle Buteau is just a blast and her gags don’t feel like they were written in a script like in The Great British Baking Show — and has a heart bigger than anything anyone cooks.
This is exactly my kind of show.
