ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – We think big changes are about to happen in an iconic part of St. Johns County News partner at WJXT in Jacksonville.

After a quarter of a century along I-95, the World Golf Hall of Fame leaves the World Golf Village.

Before that happens at the end of September, district officers want to have a plan of what to do with the property.

The IMAX theater at World Golf Village will also be closed. Both companies will cease operations on September 30th.

The theater alone is nearly 18,000 square feet and will continue to be outfitted with its filming equipment, which the theater company is leaving behind. Should another company take over the operation of the theater, the equipment would probably have to be modernized in the next five to eight years.

The World Golf Hall of Fame is approximately 64,000 square feet.

In addition to these departures, the PGA has informed the county that it plans to move the office of “PGA Tour Productions” to another location in late 2024.

Current recommendations include using the property as a possible museum, office or maybe a hotel.

But before the commissioners make a final decision on what to do with the space, they plan to hold community meetings to gather input from the public.

It is not clear when these meetings will take place or when a final decision could be made.

District officers will continue to consider and discuss ideas during Tuesday’s meeting, which begins at 9 a.m
