Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix 2023: what to expect
Max Verstappen has won six out of eight F1 races so far in 2023, and formula 1 Fans across the internet have expressed their displeasure at the predictability of the season through various memes and jokes. While Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez was initially seen as a challenger to Verstappen for the title, inconsistent performances have seen the Mexican driver struggle to keep up in the points despite remaining second in the standings.
Former world champions Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton aren’t too far behind Perez thanks to more consistent and competitive performances, although they have cars that are arguably far behind the Red Bull Racing RB19 in terms of raceworthiness. Ferrari continues to struggle, particularly multiple race winner Charles Leclerc, who hasn’t been able to get enough good results this season. Others like George Russel and Lance Stroll were held back by inconsistent results and failures at key races.
Red Bull Racing considers the Austrian Grand Prix his home race as the team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH, is based in Austria. The circuit itself is named the Red Bull Ring after it was bought by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz in the 2000s. Red Bull Racing and two-time world champion Max Verstappen will definitely benefit from the public’s enthusiasm at the specially constructed race track.
