Actor couple Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s Virus 2062 podcast is returning to Spotify for a second season, the music-streaming service announced Thursday. The audio thriller podcast, an adaptation of Spotify’s Chilean original Caso 63, is Spotify India’s first to be voiced by Bollywood actors. Directed by Mantra Mugdh. The original 10-episode podcast is about a psychiatric patient who claims to have come from the future to prevent the spread of a deadly virus. Chadha voices the role of Dr. Gayatri Rajput while Fazal plays patient 63, Peter Pereira.
In the new season, Dr. Gayatri appears in a timeline and finds that the roles have been reversed and she is now both the time traveler and the enigmatic patient of a psychiatrist, according to the official description. Chadha said working on the podcast has been an “exciting challenge” for her. “Exploring this form of storytelling as a voice actor with Spotify and Mantra continues to be an enlightening and interesting experience, and we’re excited to see how listeners embrace this season of ‘Virus 2062,'” the actor said in a statement.
Fazal said the podcast helped him improve as an artist. “In the second season of Virus 2062, my character Peter Pereira returns, stranded in a lost future. It has been both exciting and rewarding to return to this show and continue to expand my creativity by giving expression to this extraordinary world in a podcast. and I hope audiences enjoy hearing this season as much as we enjoyed making it,” he said.
“Caso 63” was also adapted in English. The podcast, titled Case 63, featured the voices of Hollywood stars Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac.
