EA has just unveiled the cover art of its upcoming football simulation game EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition featuring some of the sport’s greatest players and legends of the past. It’s worth noting that the star-studded cover looks a bit odd, as the players’ faces look poorly rendered and it seems like they’re trying to hide their pain. The studio also released an announcement trailer for the film of the same name, starring the Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya (nope) showing a movie rendered entirely in the Frostbite Engine. EA Sports FC, formerly known as FIFA, marks the next big chapter for EA as it prepares for an official appearance this week, scheduled for July 13th, ideally detailing all the new features and pricing information.
As you might have expected, the internet has already started making memes out of it EA Sports FC 24 Cover photo dedicated to the models of Brazilian legend Ronaldinho and Arsenal FC Bukayo Saka are the least like their real-life counterparts – which doesn’t make sense given that EA had already nailed the former’s facial appearance in the past FIFA games. Meanwhile, Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo looks traumatized, staring into the distance with big, round eyes. The trailer sets the stage for a new era and offers a first look at some player models fooling around in the locker room. Standouts include David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Virgil van Dijk and a look at the women’s league, with Chelsea FC’s Sam Kerr taking center stage. She was also seen as in the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23 title athlete next to Paris Saint Germain Kylian Mbappe.
Rumors from earlier this month suggested that the Standard Edition of EA Sports FC 24 will feature a Manchester City forward Erling Haaland as a cover athlete, although legitimacy cannot be verified until July 13, when the official unveiling occurs. However, the source also hinted that the Ultimate Edition would feature a number of football stars – they were probably right about that. Another report suggested the game was aimed at a September 29th release date, adding that the Ultimate Edition would grant seven days early access – a huge upgrade compared to the three-day period buyers got for FIFA 23. File sizes for the closed beta were also revealed by an Xbox data miner, hinting at up to 41.57GB on the Xbox Series X and 39.23 GB on the Xbox One.
Here’s a reminder about the brand name change: EA Sports got into a financial disagreement with the FIFA association, with the latter allegedly making demands over $1 billion (approx. Rs. 8,242 crore) every four years to allow them to use the “FIFA” moniker. EA CEO Andrew Wilson then rejected those claims, claiming the only value the publisher ever pulled from the license was the “four letters on the box.” A new logo was unveiled back in April, with “EA Sports FC” written to resemble the inverted triangle seen floating on players’ heads in-game. EA Sports too announced UFC 5Earlier this week, the full reveal is scheduled for September.
If the reports are to be believed, EA Sports FC 24 will be released on September 29th personal computer, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch. The publisher hosts a Live broadcast on July 13th at 10pm IST to reveal more about the game.
