The government aims to increase the production capacity of electronic devices to Rs. 24 lakh crore by 2025-26, which will also help create over 10 lakh jobs, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, said on Friday.

Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, the minister said the country is now at a turning point – the most exciting time in its history – and today’s generation of students is the happiest generation in the history of independent India.

“…Narendra Modi government’s goal is to increase electronics manufacturing capacity to 24 million rupees by 2025-2026, which will also help create over 10 million jobs,” he was quoted as saying in an official statement.

He said there were more than 90,000 startups, including 110 unicorns, in which young Indians played a big part.

The minister said at least 15,000 young Karnataka Indians will receive training in industry-relevant, future-ready skills.

“Remembering ‘Appu’ (popular Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar as he was commonly known) on his birthday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the day is commemorated as ‘Spoorti Dina’ or Inspiration Day and the occasion could not be more fitting. “Discuss opportunities in IndiaTechade with students,” the statement said.

In response to a request for Silicon Valley Bank Chandrasekhar said, “The Indian banking system is much more resilient and stronger compared to the banking systems of other countries. Startups should therefore choose Indian banks as their preferred banking partners.”
