ORLANDO, Fla. – Do you have what it takes to be the next super villain?
Universal Orlando will soon be allowing guests to try out their evil skills in the all-new attraction. “Illuminations Villain-Con Minion Blast.”
The new attraction is just one of the new experiences in the brand new minion land Opening at Universal Studios Florida. Throughout Minion Land, guests will find incredible new offerings, including this unique Minion Cafe dining locationdifferent places, shopping and entertainment Inspired by some of Illumination’s hit films and characters in a new rendezvous.
Upon entering Illuminations Avenue in the park, guests will find the widely popular Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction and Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, an all-new interactive gaming attraction.
On Friday, Universal Orlando shared new details about what guests will see once they enter the Minion Blast. queue.
“Upon entering the attraction, guests are immediately whisked away to Villain-Con – the largest convention for villains around the globe – where the headlining event is all about finding out who has what it takes to become the newest member of the infamous Super Villain-Con group “the Vicious 6, who starred in the hit film Minions: Rise of Gru,” Universal said in a press release. “As guests navigate the convention, they stroll through the exhibition hall outfitted with the latest gadgets, vehicles and fashions to pull off the most heinous deeds before picking up an E-Liminator X blaster to take on their friends, loved ones and fellow guests to prove just how bad they really are.”
During the experience, guests use their blaster, equipped with freeze rays, banana bombs, explosive nunchucks and more, to wreak as much havoc and destruction as possible and earn points.
Universal said Minion Blast will be the first attraction with connected gameplay to be synchronized with the Official Universal Orlando Resort App.
By syncing their blaster to the app with just a tap, guests can track their scores, launch special missions within the attraction, unlock nasty perks and extra powerful blasts to rack up more points and earn digital collectibles, according to Universal. A similar type of gameplay technology is used Power-Up Bands at Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. West Coast Theme Park guests collect coins across the country and can track totals across the country Universal Studios Hollywood app.
Universal said the digital experience will enable a deeper guest connection that enhances the in-park experience and sets the stage for even more benefits between the digital and physical worlds.
As guests weave their way through the experience aboard a moving path, Universal says they’ll encounter each member of the Vicious 6, voiced by the original cast from the film, including Belle Bottom, Stronghold, Nun-Chuck, Jean Clawed and Svengeance.
An official opening date for the new attraction has been announced.
