The trailer for Episode 4 of The Last of Us has been released. HBO previewed the next week’s episode of the post-apocalyptic drama based on the PlayStation video game of the same name, introducing a new character in the form of Kathleen, a ruthless leader of a revolutionary movement in Kansas City. Melanie Lynskey, best known for her role with the Yellowjackets, will play the role – which spells trouble for our survival duo, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). Entitled Please Hold My Hand, the episode will be directed by Jeremy Webb (The Umbrella Academy) and is reported to be only 50 minutes long – significantly shorter than the 75 minute runtime of Episode 3. Episode 4 of The Last of Us launches February 6 at 8:30 p.m. IST/ February 5 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max, respectively.

The trailer too The last of us Episode 4 begins by introducing Ellies (Ramsey) new pet gets annoyed – disgusted by the smell of coffee while the couple takes a break outside in the woods. “It smells like burnt shit,” she says to Joel (Pascal), unperturbed by her comments, immediately takes a loud gulp from the bottle. While it’s not specifically mentioned, Ellie has to give credit that the coffee was strained with a smelly rag or his sock – since they’d been out for a while. Episode 3 introduced our unlikely fat-haired ally, Bill (Nick Offerman), who with his partner Frank (Murray Bartlett) in the TV series.

The last of us The Episode 4 trailer shows Joel and Ellie on the road as they continue their journey to Wyoming. Ellie, unfamiliar with being in a car, has trouble helping with map navigation, causing the duo to stop in hostile territory. “This is my second day in a damn car, man. Stop it,” she says, noticing an injured survivor begging for help. Thinking he’s probably bitten and infected, Joel continues driving, hitting debris in the process. “This has gone too far. It has to stop,” says an unseen hostage of new character Kathleen (Lynskey) holding a gun to his head. “Where is he?” she asks with tears in her eyes, probably meaning Joel. The trailer for The Last of Us Episode 4 then shows some action sequences in which our duo secretly navigate the run-down town and deal with the last surviving citizens.

“We’re going to make it,” Joel reassures Ellie at the end of the Last of Us Episode 4 trailer before hitting the road. Back to the new character Kathleen Twitterwriter Neil Druckman praised her performance on the series. “OMG! You ruined your episodes! I can’t wait for people to see your character!” he saidwhich confirms that Lynskey will appear in multiple episodes.

Last week, HBO renewed The Last of Us series for one second seasonDruckmann adding that it will investigate the events of the award-winning video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Craig MazinShowrunner and director of Episode 1 of The Last of Us also hinted that the sequel could be a two-parter, claiming that the story is “more than a full season on TV.”

New episodes of The Last of Us stream every Monday Disney+ Hotstarat 8:30am IST in India and on Sunday at 9:00pm ET HBO Max wherever available. Season 1 consists of nine episodes.
