TCL announces new budget phones, tablets and more at CES 2023

TCL announced a range of new products at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas, USA. The Chinese electronics maker unveiled a new range of budget smartphones, a new tablet and a detachable two-in-one laptop. TCL introduced a range of budget smartphones at the event, including the TCL 40 SE, 40R 5G and TCL 408. The company also unveiled a range of new televisions, audio devices and home appliances.

Introduced at CES 2023The TCL 40 R 5G has a 6.6-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The handset has a triple rear camera, led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. It is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. The TCL 40 SEhas a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also has a triple rear camera, led by a 50-megapixel primary lens. The front camera is an 8-megapixel camera housed in a waterdrop-shaped recess at the top center of the screen. The TCL 40 SE packs a 5,010mAh battery and comes with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage.

The TCL 408 has a 6.6-inch HD+ display and a 50-megapixel main camera on the back that doubles as a macro sensor. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery and 64GB of internal storage. The TCL 40 R 5G, TCL 40 SE and TCL 408 are priced at US$219 (about Rs.18,000), US$169 (about Rs.14,000) and US$129 (about Rs.10,600) respectively.

In addition to the 40 series phones TCL also announced the NxtPaper 12 Pro tablet at the event. The Next Paper 12 Pro features a 12.2-inch 2K display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 8.5mm bezels. The tablet has an 8,000 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port. TCL states that the tablet can last up to 13 hours with daily use. The tablet has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The NxtPaper Pro features a thin and light design with a thickness of 6.9mm and a weight of 599 grams. The tablet also features dual 8MP cameras on the front.

TCL also announced that TCL Book X12 Go A detachable two-in-one laptop was presented at the event, featuring a similar detachable screen as the NxtPaper 12 Pro tablet and running on Windows 11. It is powered by a Snapdragon 7C Gen 2 SoC and packs a 30 Wh battery. TCL has not yet announced when the devices will go on sale or if they will be available in India.
