The 29 biggest movies and TV series on Disney+ Hotstar in January

Disney+ Hotstar has announced a list of 29 films and web series to be released on its streaming platform in January 2023. Well, as a matter of fact, there’s only one movie in the mix that’s set to stream after a brief stint in theaters – The Menu. In it, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult travel to a coastal island to dine at an exclusive restaurant where acclaimed chef Slowik (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu with some terrifying surprises. The Menu will be released on January 4th on Disney+ Hotstar. Follow that with a healthy dose of the live-action adaptation of the acclaimed PlayStation video game The Last of Us, as Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey venture into infected, post-apocalyptic America in search of answers. Episode one will be released on the platform on January 16 – reportedly 85 minutes long – after which the remaining eight episodes will follow a weekly release cycle.

Popular YouTuber Bhuvan Bam titles the Indian catalog for Disney+ Hotstar in January 2023 with a comedy-drama series. Taaza Chabar follows a Mumbai-based sanitation worker whose poverty-stricken life is turned upside down when he gains some surreal powers. With new goals to achieve and equally tough karma, all episodes will be available to stream on January 6th. That should be enough for Indian releases this month, even the long ones Aashiqana Season 2 End of run in December.

From the galaxy far, far away we have Star Wars: The Bad Batch, returning for its second run as our friendly soldiers navigate the Empire after the fall of the Republic. The first two episodes air January 4, followed by a weekly schedule. After that, check out Japan’s quiet surfing culture in the episodic documentary, chasing wavesthat captures the culture and excitement leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. All eight episodes, starring real surfing pros including 2021 Olympic silver medalist Kanoa Igarashi, will be available to stream January 11 on Disney+ Hotstar.

If anime is your thing, get ready Tokyo revengers season 2, which adapts the Christmas Showdown arc and continues at the point where lead actors Takemichi Hanagaki and Chifuyu Matsuno were shot and killed by Tetta Kisaki, the Tokyo Manji Gang’s high-ranking official. Season 2 is also expected to introduce new characters as we embark on the battle against the Generation 10 Black Dragon. Tokyo Revengers Season 2 episodes will be released weekly starting January 8th. During Detective Conans The main arc is far from complete, so why not dive into a live-action drama adaptation of ? Young Kindaichi’s files? This new, reimagined series features 10 select episodes and brings a “contemporary perspective” to the 1995 original series.

Will Trent is another addition to Disney+ Hotstar this month, highlighting the abandonment issues of the eponymous special agent (Ramón Rodríguez) as he navigates life to achieve the highest case clearance rate. The series starts on January 4th, with the remaining six episodes following in the following weeks. For those looking for some fresh American cartoons to check out – because The Simpsons did it all first – check this out koala manwhich seems to be heavily inspired by people like James Gunns Great, if not so down-to-earth. In it, an Australian family man lives a not-so-secret identity as Koala Man, a vigilante who uncovers petty crimes despite being incredibly bad at it. Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends) voices Kevin/Koala Man while Sarah Snook (successor) breathes life into his weary wife Vicky. Koala Man premieres on the platform on January 10th.

Then there’s Hulu’s Extraordinary, a world where everyone develops superpowers by the age of 18, except for our 25-year-old lead, Jen (Máiréad Tyers). Her insecurity about being left behind is compounded by her hopeless job and occasional hookup, who has no plans to commit anytime soon. Will this tiny bit of hope help Jen find her “maybe superpower”? Find out when all eight episodes of Extraordinary will be available to stream January 25th on Disney+ Hotstar. Meanwhile, thriller fanatics can tune in to “The Watchful Eye” on January 31, in which a young woman hired as a maid for a wealthy family observes the deadly secrets of its members.

Since there are no new specials from Disney or Wonder this month – also willows To be continued — all that’s left are some Korean and Japanese dramas. Lovers become political enemies in Bloody Heart, a Joseon Dynasty fictional drama in which Emperor Lee Tae and Queen Yoo Jeong are forced to forsake their affection for one another. Beginning January 18, new episodes will appear every Wednesday and Thursday. K-pop fans also have a treat in Super Junior: The Last Man Standing, a docu-series that tells the story of boy bands from their early days. All episodes will stream on January 18th.

In addition to the aforementioned two – Tokyo revengers season 2 and The Files of Young Kindaichi – Japan has another Disney+ Offer. In Lost Man Found, Saturo Matsudo (Taiga Nakano), an aspiring actor, moves to Tokyo hoping to fulfill his dream and struggles through poverty and hardship to break into show business. All that changes one day when he stumbles upon a plane ticket that belongs to the CEO of a talent agency. Beginning January 25, new episodes will stream every week.
