Sony WF-1000XM5 On Monday, the company launched truly wireless stereo (TWS) earphones. The wireless headset features the company’s latest onboard processor V2 paired with the noise-canceling QN2e processor. They support active noise cancellation (ANC). The Sony WF-1000XM5 headphones feature the new Dynamic Driver X and offer support for DNN (Deep Neural Network) processing for improved call quality. The earbuds come in four sizes and are made from a polyurethane foam material, according to the company. They should offer a battery life of up to 12 hours with normal use and support wired and wireless charging.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 is priced at US$299 (approx. Rs.24,447). You are currently listed on the Sony US online store in black and silver color options. They are available for pre-order and will go on sale in August. There is currently no information from the company as to when these headphones will be launched in India.

These wireless headphones will compete with Apple’s current generation AirPods Pro 2 and other premium options in the same price segment.

As a successor, the newly announced Sony WF-1000XM5 earphones were launched Sony WF-1000XM4 launched globally in 2021. The latest TWS earbuds feature several improvements over their predecessors, including improved sound, noise cancellation, and better call quality. The wireless headset features Sony’s Integrated Processor V2 chip and QN2e processors for improved ANC performance.

Additionally, the Sony WF-1000XM5 earphones come equipped with the company’s Dynamic Driver X and offer 24-bit audio processing and DSEE Extreme upscaling technology. In addition to SBC and AAC audio codecs, it also supports Sony’s LDAC codec for high-resolution wireless audio streaming.

According to Sony, the new WF-1000XM5 earphones’ Deep Neural Network (DNN) processing and bone conduction sensors ensure improved call quality, even in environments with noisy ambient noise.

The earbuds also support Speak to Chat features, adaptive sound control, multipoint connection, fast pair, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and support for Google and Alexa voice assistants.

Sony states that the WF-100XM5 earphones offer up to 12 hours of battery life with normal use, which drops to 8 hours with ANC activated. They can be charged with a USB Type-C cable or wirelessly.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 has an IPX4 rating for splash protection. The charging case measures 64.6 x 40.0 x 26.5mm and weighs 39g, while each earbud weighs 5.9g.
