Sony Xperia 5 V promo video leak suggests dual rear camera design

The Sony Xperia 5 V has appeared online ahead of an official announcement in an alleged promotional video giving smartphone enthusiasts a glimpse of the handset’s design and specs. The video shows the Sony Xperia 5 V with two rear cameras. The handset comes in three different color options. A fingerprint sensor and prominent edges are visible at the top and bottom. It is shown with a headphone jack and a camera shutter release. The Sony Xperia 5 V is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Sony Xperia 5 V is said to be the successor to last year’s flagship offering – Sony Xperia 5 IV.

Reddit user JB2unique has Posted a promotional video claiming to be about the Sony Xperia 5 V. In the video, the smartphone is shown in three color options – black, blue and white – with the inscription “New phone, new me”. The video suggests a dual camera unit on the rear, one fewer than its predecessor. Sony may have dispensed with the telephoto sensor in the upcoming model. The rear cameras are housed vertically on the panel next to the LED flash.

In addition, the Sony Xperia 5 V seems to have a matte finish with the Sony logo on the back. It appears to have a square design similar to the Xperia 5 IV, with prominent bezels on all sides. The on/off switch and the volume rocker are placed on the left rear. It also appears to include a camera shutter button below the power button. Pictured above is the 3.5mm audio jack and a microphone.

Sony has not announced any details about the Sony Xperia 5 V yet. It’s rumored to be coming fitted with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

As a reminder, that was the Sony Xperia 5 IV unveiled in September Last year with a starting price of $999 (about Rs. 79,600) in the US. The Sony Xperia 5 IV sports a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It features a triple rear camera unit consisting of three 12-megapixel Exmor RS image sensors. In addition, the handset comes with a 12MP selfie camera and a 5,000mAh battery.
