HP has announced its lineup for CES 2023 with a 24/7 focus Hybrid work.
The new HP Dragonfly are groundbreaking laptops, with the top-of-the-line Dragonfly Pro being marketed primarily to freelancers. Other products include a new pair of wireless headphones, the Poly Voyager Free 60 series, as well as a new line of supervised in sizes from 21.5″ to 44.5″, including 4K and ultrawide models.
There’s also a new focus from HP on making greener products by using unconventional organic materials, from coffee grounds to cooking oil.
On the (dragon) fly
The new HP Dragonfly Pro is being touted by the company as a machine built for multitasking and heavy workloads, which it says is especially important for those who work freelance and may be embracing hybrid work routines.
Developed in partnership with AMD, the Dragonfly Pro uses the chipmaker’s adaptive platform management framework, which HP says “optimizes performance in real-world productivity scenarios.”
Other features in the range include a camera, touchscreen controls, a claimed all-day battery life, and built-in 24/7 live support with a single button press.
Other hotkeys include one to access camera settings, another to access device settings, and a fourth that can be customized by the user.
In addition to the Windows models, there is the HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook, which also has an 8MP camera and touchscreen operation.
Of particular interest to hybrid workers is the HP Presence software built into Dragonfly Pro, which the company claims improves audio and video, which is important in video conferencing.
The software’s features include the multi-camera experience, which supports two camera streams simultaneously on a single device, allowing you to show your face and whiteboard either side-by-side or picture-in-picture, which HP says is a world first for commercials personal computers
HP Presence also uses face tracking technology in its auto camera selection feature, which can detect which camera is being used on the face so the audience can stay in focus. HP Keystone Correction can crop and smooth images, which is useful if you’re sharing a whiteboard or physical document, and HP Be Right Back lets you change your feed to a still image if you’re briefly away on a call.
Among the intelligent features of the Dragonfly Pro laptops is the intelligent sleep mode, which automatically sleeps at specific times based on your usage patterns. It can also learn when you’ll be using your laptop the next day and switch to a modern standby mode in time to get you back to work right away.
Another is Smart Sense, which uses AI to learn your usage habits and optimize heat output accordingly, resulting in a quieter and cooler experience.
Considering its green credentials, HP claims the latest Dragonfly laptops are made from 90% recycled magnesium, 5% marine plastics, and even bio-circulating materials like cooking oil. The HP 14-inch Laptop PC – Eco Edition goes further, with up to a quarter of its composition made from recycled plastic, and the HP 24- and 27-inch All-In-One PCs feature coffee grounds that used as a patch in the surface.
Other products include the HP E-Series G5 monitors, which range from 21.5 to 44.5 and include 4k models, including what the company says is the world’s first 45-inch super ultrawide Dual QHD -Curved monitor, the HP E45c G5. The HP M24h and M27h FHD monitors also have improved ergonomics and come with convenience setup software.
Then there are the Poly Voyager Free 60 series wireless earbuds. These have five hours of talk time (with an additional 10 hours thanks to the included charging case), adaptive active noise cancellation, and a smart charging case for the 60+ model with touchscreen controls for volume and a 3.5mm audio jack to plug in to many standard audio devices such as B. There’s also the HP 620/625 FHD Webcam, which records at 1080p and has dual noise-cancelling microphones, AI face frames, 360-degree rotation, and a 90-degree tilt angle. The HP 710 Rechargeable Silent Mouse has a 90-day battery life, silent clicks, six programmable buttons, multi-OS compatibility, and is made from 60% recycled plastic.
