Shantaram: Apple TV+ Unveils First Look at Charlie Hunnam's India-Set Drama Series

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for the highly awaited drama series Shantaram, which stars Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy. Based on Gregory David Roberts’ worldwide bestselling novel, the Apple Original series is co-created, written, and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot, who also acts as showrunner.

Shantaram is described as a “hopeful cinematic love story” combined with a thrilling epic adventure following “one man’s journey to redemption across a land that alters his life.” The series is directed and executive produced by Bharat Nalluri.

According to the official synopsis, Shantaram follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) who is trying to get lost in “vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay.” Lin fights to dodge the trouble he’s running from in this new city, alone. Lin must choose between freedom and love and the complexities that come with it after falling for an enigmatic and alluring woman named Karla.”

Shantaram will make its global debut on Friday, October 14, with the first three episodes of its 12-episode first season, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through December 16 on Apple TV+.

Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph, and Shiv Palekar all appear in the series.

Executive producers include Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel, and Eric Warren Singer, who co-created the series with Lightfoot. Shantaram is developed by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content’s AC Studios for Apple.
