Mr. Valdez is recognized for 40 years of entrepreneurial success as the owner of Gambles Valdez Enterprises, a Do It Best hardware and home furnishings retail company. Mr. Valdez, known in his community as the longtime public face of the company, started as an employee at the business from 1956 to 1983, when it was still known as Gamble-Skogmo Inc. During this time he earned Salesman of the Year and Manager of the Year recognition for his success there; He even received a 1970 Pinto as a reward for his sales success. In 1983 he decided to buy the company, a decision he still considers his most notable professional achievement to this day.
An exceptionally hard worker, Mr. Valdez credits his success to his perseverance and dedication to his work, as well as the support of his late wife, Adelina Torres Valdez. The couple were married for 63 years before she died and they raised six children together: Valerie Monteverde, Rosemarie Valdez, Maxine Valdez-Ortiz, Maria Elena Valdez, Joseph Valdez and Victor Valdez.
Mr. Valdez graduated from high school and served in the US Navy for three years before embarking on a career that has allowed him to stay in the community he loved. All these years later he remains active in local churches and enjoys hunting, reading and music. Looking to the future, he looks forward to seeing his business continue to thrive.
