KGF Chapter 2 has sold the most tickets in 2022 according to BookMyShow

KGF: Chapter 2 – Prashanth Neel’s historical thriller sequel – was among the best-selling and most-watched films of 2022. According to BookMyShow’s Best of 2022 report, the film managed to sell 2.14 million tickets on release day – April 14, with more collections coming over the following weekends. Set in Kannada, the film sold 34 percent of total tickets during the weekends of 2022, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the best-selling film on the platform with a whopping 17.7 million tickets sold.

After BookMyShow, KGF: Chapter 2 also topped the charts for most advance bookings, followed by people like RRR, Ponniyin Selvan: I, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand oddly enough, Idris Elba-led animal – not the Tamil language film of the same name starring Vijay.

The BookMyShow stats also mention a 116 percent increase in audiences wanting an “immersive cinematic experience” over regular screens. This of course refers to the 3D, IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D and 4DX formats, which were also heavily promoted during the show avatars Re-release, back in September. The IMAX and 4DX formats are mostly popular with Hollywood films, with Indian titles accounting for a small percentage of the total.

Using data collected from January 1st to December 5th, BookMyShow stream – the company’s video-on-demand platform – recorded 1.11 lakh viewing hours in 2022. The year also added 200 films to the streaming platform, engulfing 93 percent of India’s audience. However, the remaining 7 percent chose to buy these films in order to watch them at their leisure. Although there are no explicit figures, the company notes that Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Spacewalker and the 2020-released documentary about the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, Assassins were the “most watched” movies on BMS Stream. the Marvel Cinematic Universe Entry in the list also has an extended version available to stream or buy, which includes some content cut from the theatrical release.

2022 also welcomed some Oscar nominated Movies on BookMyShow Stream, directed by Will Smith King RichardDenis Villeneuves duneKristen Stewart’s spencerand parallel mothers with Penélope Cruz on the most important highlights.

The BookMyShow report also mentions that 8 million viewers attended live on-site entertainment at more than 19,000 events – a positive development having weathered this COVID-19 Lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
